OUR LINEAGE
From Rio de Janeiro to North Florida.
The Gracie Barra association was founded in 1986 by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro — the namesake of the academy. It has since produced 10 Black Belt World Champions and grown to more than 900 schools worldwide, all teaching the same organized curriculum.
Across every mat, Gracie Barra is built on three pillars — Integrity, Respect, and Trust — and carries a single motto: Organized Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone. The same curriculum, uniforms, and standards have made their way to North Florida, where two mats in Jacksonville and St Johns serve families across Nocatee, St Augustine, World Golf Village, Ponte Vedra, and the surrounding communities.
